MAJLIS MERAIKAN PESARA, HAJI/HAJAH, PELAJAR CEMERLANG DAN BERKHATAN

Event to Celebrate Retired Retirement Workers, Hajj and Hajjah, Excellent Students and children to be circumcised organized by UMMC Islamic Welfare Society Employees 2018 was held on November 30, 2018. At the same time, This program is aimed at promoting the young lining together to enhance knowledge of the importance of circumcision which is the practice of Islam.

“When this kind of ceremony is held, it opens the eyes of young people on the importance of continuing the good practices that were triggered by the previous generation. The circumcision ceremonies are not merely the fulfillment of religious demands but the development of Islamic teachings through friendship,”.

Before the circumcision began, the children involved were greeted with a parade accompanied by a firefight before they watered by the firefighters and continued to be circumcised.

TAZKIRAH FRIDAY NIGHT PROGRAM RECORDING
 Update on: 29/11/2018
 

On 29 November 2018, The UMMC Pemangkin in collaboration with Astro Oasis has made a great success this year. Two recording sessions of the Tazkirah Friday Night program have been successfully recorded. Almost 250 staff and students of the Health Sciences College from UMMC who are involved in the morning and evening sessions take this opportunity. Lots of interesting and useful info can be applied in everyday life and career. Congratulations to all and hopefully this program can continue in the future.

MALAYSIAN COMMUNITY EDUCATION FOUNDATION (MCEF) VISIT
 Update on: 28/11/2018
 

Thank you to the Malaysian Community Education Foundation (MCEF) for visiting UMMC Pediatric Ward on November 28, 2018 by giving souvenirs to patients at Ward 8PA, 8PB and 7PA. Obviously, this visit bring smile to the patients as well as entertaining their hearts with the presence and souvenirs provided. Hopefully such a visit will continue in the future.

MADELEINE CHILDRENS FUND (MCF) NOTEBOOKS DONATION

Thank you to the Madeleine Childrens Fund (MCF) who donated 1000 notebooks to be used by the UMMC Pediatric Ward Oncology Patient on 28 November 2018. This book makes it easy for Pediatric Oncology Patients who conduct Chemotherapy treatment to record the information needed daily more efficiently and effectively. Hopefully this pure effort will continue to help alleviate the burden of patients, especially in UMMC

MAJLIS PERASMIAN SAMBUTAN MAULIDUR RASUL PERINGKAT PPUM 2018

Prophet Muhammad S.A.W was born on Monday, 12 Rabiulawal, 570 AD in Mecca. The birth of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w is a blessing and mercy to the whole world and He was sent by God to spread the Islamic law and guide and lead mankind.

Accordingly, the Maulidur Rasul Celebration was held from 28 to 30 November 2018 in collaboration with UMMC Pemangkin. The ceremony was officiated by Prof. Madya Dr. Nazirah bt Hasnan, Clinical Deputy Director (Medicine) and the theme this year is ‘To Bring People to the Blessing’. Various activities have been arranged to enliven the program. Among the activities are exhibitions, forums, prime talks, recording of Tazkirah Friday Night program by Astro and booth by Bank Islam, Zakat Collection Center, Syariah Court and Tabung Haji.

VISIT BY BORNEO SAITO CLUB, SAITO UNIVERSITY COLLEGE

Borneo Saito Club, Saito University College located in Petaling Jaya has held a program known as Zara Friends at the Pediatric Ward, UMMC on November 23, 2018. The purpose of the program is to provide exposure to students in implementing social responsibility projects or community services in addition giving joy and cheer to the patients in the Pediatric Ward, UMMC. The club has also been keen on delivering souvenirs to children in the ward. Thank you Saito’s Borneo Club University Saito for its concerns over the patients at UMMC.

MAJLIS HARI PEMBANTU PERAWATAN KESIHATAN PERINGKAT PPUM 2018

In order to foster friendship and co-operation with PPK staff, the UMMC Level Health Care Assistant Association held PPK Day to celebrate members of the Association on 22 November 2018 at Conference Room 3, 13th Floor, Menara Selatan.

The ceremony was officiated by YM Prof. Dr. Tunku Kamarul Zaman bin Tunku Zainal Abidin, Director of UMMC. Also present were En. Ikhwan Fahmi, Chairman of the PPK Association from the Ministry of Health Malaysia. Hopefully PPK at UMMC can help and improve the effort to be together in line with the UMMC to achieve the vision and mission of UMMC.

WEEK OF WORLD ANTIBIOTIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGN WEEK AT UMMC 2018

The issue of antibiotic resistance is one of the major threats to the world in terms of health and food safety. The use of antibiotics does not justify accelerating the occurrence of antibiotic resistance. Hence, UMMC has held the World Antibiotics Awareness Campaign Week on 21st November 2018 to raise awareness and educate the public on antibiotic resistance.
The ceremony was officiated by YM Prof. Dr. Tunku Kamarul Zaman bin Tunku Zainol Abidin, Director of UMMC. The theme selected this year was ‘Antibiotic Handle With Car’ and various activities were held such as exhibits, Antimicrobial Audit 5x5 programs in selected wards and antibiotic quizzes

VISIT BY ROAD SAFETY DEPARTMENT, FEDERAL TERRITORY OF KUALA LUMPUR (JKJR WPKL)

November 21, 2018, the Road Safety Department, Federal Territory visited the 8U ward UMMC. This visit is in conjunction with Celebrating Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Level Accident Victims Day. The celebration is aimed at awareness among road users to be more sensitive, prudent and careful when using roads and fostering a culture of compliance with road laws.

About 15 staff of WPKL JKJR headed by Mr Azharul Izwan bin Puaadi, Director of JKJR WPKL visited, greeted and presented souvenirs to patients in the ward.

WORLD HEART DAY OPENING CEREMONY 2018

The World Heart Day Opening Ceremony 2018, Surgical Hall Upgrade (OT) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Check Presentation by Sime Darby were held at UMMC on November 19, 2018 at the Auditorium, Menara Selatan.

The World Heart Day celebrated on September 29th every year is to foster the awareness of the community in preserving our heart as it is one of the most important organs in our body, without which we are all lifeless.

The ceremony was officiated by YAB Dato ''Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Dr. Wan Ismail, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia. Also present was YBhg. Datin Paduka Zaitoon bt Dato ''Othman, Sime Darby Supreme Council Member, YB Ahmad Fahmi bin Mohamed Fadzil, Lembah Pantai MP and YB Tuan Haji Syamsul Firdaus bin Mohamed Supri.

Hopefully, upgrading the Surgical and Intensive Care Ward (ICU) with modern equipments can provide the best health care to patients in the hospitals.

Thank you very much to the Sime Darby Foundation for a donation of RM 1.5 million to help the underprivileged UMMC patients undergo heart disease treatment.

THE MALAYSIA SUPER PREEMIES RUN

Each child is a gift from God, not knowing whether the child is through normal birth or premature birth that is the birth of a baby before 37 weeks of pregnancy. To celebrate premature babies, the NICU Unit (Neonat Intensive Care Unit) has held the ''The Malaysia Super Preemies'' Run on Nov 18. 2018 at UM Arena, University of Malaya.

The run is held in conjunction with the World Premiere Day Celebration celebrated on 17 November each year. The ceremony was inaugurated by His Royal Highness King Dato ''Seri Eleena bt Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfur-Lah, Patron of the Perinatal Society of Malaysia. For parents who have premature babies, do not worry as these children are also able to grow as normal-born babies.

CELEBRATION OF THE FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE UMMC CHILD CARE CENTER

The celebration of the first anniversary of the establishment of the UMMC Child Care Center managed by the Department of Nursing in collaboration with the Nursing Club was held on November 15, 2018 at the Sport Court, 14th Floor, UMMC South Tower Building.

Various activities were held such as Sukaneka, children''s performances, zumba and cake cutting events. The ceremony was officiated by Prof. Madya Dr. Nazirah bt Hasnan, Clinical Deputy Director (Medical).

The establishment of this care center has provided childcare facilities, especially to staff who are shifted to work. UMMC Management also intends to increase this kind of child care center.

WORLDWIDE DIABETES WEEK CELEBRATION 2018

The Worldwide Diabetes Week Celebration 2018 was held from 12 to 16 November 2018. Various activities were held such as Healthy Eating Workshop, Health Screening and Health Talk, Zumba and Aerobics as well as posters and healthcare booths related to diabetes.

The inauguration of the World Diabetes Day at the UMMC level was held on November 14, 2018 with the theme of this year''s Diabetes and Family. The ceremony was officiated by YM Prof. Dr. Tunku Kamarul Zaman bin Tunku Zainol Abidin, Director, of UMMC. During the opening speech, he asked UMMC staff and young generation to undergo a health screening and adopt a healthy lifestyle as the disease does not recognize age. Congratulations especially to the Diabetes Care Unit and other Departments involved in organizing this event.

CLOSING CEREMONIES THE 1ST ACADEMIC MEDICINE CENTER CONFERENCE
 Update on: 7/11/2018
 

Closing Ceremonies The Academic Medicine Center themed Quality Improvement and Safety 2018 organized by PPUM in collaboration with the Higher Education Department, KPM was held on 2 November 2018. This conference has seen 28 improvement projects under the poster category and 8 projects under the oral category have been presented.

The Category Poster winner was won by the Selayang Hospital with the title ‘Reducing Platelet Wastage in Selayang Hospita’l while the second and third place won by UMMC. The Champion of the Oral Category was won by UMMC with the title ‘CT Chest Abdomen Pelvis: Optimizing Contrast Media Based On Body Weight Using Bolus Tracking Method’. Second place was won by Putrajaya Hospital while third place was won by Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM). Congratulations to the winners and to the unsuccessful, trying again in the future.

YBhg. Prof. Madya Dr. Nazirah binti Hasnan, Clinical Deputy Director (Medical), UMMC Deputy Director (Medical) has been present and closed this 3-days conference. This conference is expected to be a knowledge-sharing session to further excellence and increase productivity in healthcare in Malaysia especially and globally.

FIRST NATIONAL CONFERENCE OF ACADEMIC MEDICINE CENTER

University Malaya Medical Center (UMMC) in collaboration with the Higher Education Department, Ministry of Education Malaysia has organized the first National Conference of Academic Medicine Center with theme of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety 2018 on 31 October to 2 November 2018. This conference is one of the programs under the Consortium of the University of Public Health Malaysia (KHUAM). The theme of the conference was ''Supporting the Industrial Revolution Concept 4.0'' and it was held to share and explore innovation and improvement opportunities in the healthcare delivery system in Malaysia.

The conference was officiated by YBhg. Dato ''Dr. Mohd Gazali bin Abas, Chief Secretary , Ministry of Education Malaysia on November 1, 2018. Also present were YBhg. Datin Paduka Ir. Dr. Siti Hamisah binti Tapsir, Director of Higher Education, Ministry of Education Malaysia and YM Prof. Dr. Tunku Kamarul Zaman bin Tunku Zainol Abidin, Director UMMC. Hopefully this conference will be platform for various information in terms of technology, innovation, research and scientific presentation that can be fully utilized by public and private health institutions.

LAWATAN OCBC AL-AMIN BANK BERHAD KE PPUM

Pada 31 Okt. 2018, OCBC Al-Amin Bank Berhad (OABB) telah mengadakan lawatan sosial ke wad Pediatrik, PPUM. Lawatan ini adalah sebahagian daripada tanggungjawab sosial serta khidmat masyarakat staf OABB terhadap komuniti terutamanya golongan kanak-kanak. Pihak OABB telah mengadakan lawatan dan menyampaikan cenderahati kepada pesakit kanak-kanak, sumbangan 5 Unit Set Silicone Resuscitation dan mengadakan persembahan badut dan silap mata untuk menghiburkan kanak-kanak di Wad Pediatrik.

Seramai 20 orang staf dari OCBB telah hadir dan lawatan diketuai oleh En. Syed Abdull Aziz Jailani bin Syed Kechik, CEO, OCBC Al-Amin Bank Berhad manakala wakil dari PPUM adalah Dr. Profesor Madya Gan Chin Seng, Pakar Perunding Pediatrik. Terima kasih OABB, semoga jalinan kerjasama ini dapat diteruskan di masa-masa akan datang.
