Teks Ucapan YB Dato Seri Idris Bin Jusoh
Menteri Pendidikan Tinggi
Sekian, terima kasih.

The University of Malaya (UM) and University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) jointly hosted an event to acknowledge the generous donation of RM 100,000 from Avon Malaysia. The donation, which will be used to further promote both the important work undertaken at UMMC’s Breast Cancer Clinic and its support to Avon’s breast cancer awareness campaign will also provide patients, in the lower income bracket, with access to the full range of diagnostic facilities at the Clinic.
The Clinic, which is part of the Breast Cancer Resource Centre (UMMC), was established in 2005 through the partnership of many of the hospital’s cancer related clinical specialities and services where it provides an effective one-stop-shop for its patients, greatly improving the effectiveness and speed of diagnosis.
The event was attended by Professor Datuk Dr. Rohana Yusof (Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Student Affairs and Alumni, UM) who thanked Mr. Romulus Sirbu (President, Avon Malaysia), Ms Katarzyna Ostrowska (Director of communications, Avon Malaysia) and all their staff for their generosity and ongoing support of the issues which surround breast cancer in Malaysia today.
The audience, graced by survivors, members of the University’s Senior Management Team, surgeons and clinicians were reminded how vital it was that early detection, through improved breast cancer awareness, significantly improves survival rates and how this gift and on-going partnership can make a real difference to the women of Malaysia.
If you would like to learn more about the Breast Cancer Clinic or how you can help further support the vital the work undertaken, please contact advancement1@um.edu.my.
