Visit by Nursing Students, Universiti Islam Malaysia On September 27, 2018, Fourth Year Students (4) Elective Clinical Intensive Care Unit, Nursing Kulliyah, Islamic University of Malaysia visited the Intensive Care Unit, UMMC.
One of the the objectives of the visit is to expose students to critical services and to study the care at the Intensive Care Unit, UMMC. The visit was led by Prof. Madya Dr. Saliza bt Mohamed Ludin and 8 Kulliyah Nursing students, UIAM.
Hopefully this visit give them a lot of benefits and critical knowledge.

Hari Farmasi Sedunia peringkat PPUM telah disambut dengan meriahnya pada hari ini bersamaan dengan 25 September 2018 di konkos, PPUM dengan tema ''Pharmacists : Your Medicines Experts''. Pelbagai aktiviti seperti kuiz, pemeriksaan mata, kadar gula dalam badan, tekanan darah serta pameran telah diadakan. Majlis telah dirasmikan oleh YM Prof. Tunku Kamarul Zaman bin Tunku Zainol Abidin, Pengarah PPUM.
Turut hadir adalah Timbalan-Timbalan Pengarah, dan Ketua-Ketua Jabatan, PPUM. Di dalam ucapan perasmian, YM Prof. Tunku Kamarul memaklumkan sesungguhnya, Pegawai Farmasi memainkan peranan yang penting di di PPUM serta mereka perlu memastikan ubat-ubatan yang diterima oleh pesakit adalah efektif dan selamat untuk digunakan.

Pharmacy Department, in partnership with Human Library Malaysia, has organized UMMC Human Library Event 2018 for the very first time in UMMC. The event was held on 22nd September 2018 at Bilik Konferen 3, Menara Selatan. The objective of this event is to increase the staff''s understanding and empathy values towards patients and carers. In Human Library, instead of borrowing a book and reading it, readers borrow a person and listen to the story.
The reader can ask questions and engage in conversation with the ''book''. The ''books'' in UMMC Human Library are mostly UMMC''s patients and carers, whereas the ''readers'' are staff from Pharmacy, Nursing, Medical Record, Social Welfare, Engineering, Internal Audit, Business Development and Quality Departments. There were a total of 17 ''books'' available during the event. Among the titles are Person living with HIV, Rintihan Seorang Pesakit Major Depression, My Son and His Brain Tumor and Cancer Changed My Life for The Better.

On September 23, 2018, Petronita organized the Orchid Run 2018 for the 4th time. This year, one of the recipients of the revenue contribution from Orchid Run was PPUMCare who received the highest contribution of RM 120,000.00. These funds and donations will be used for the HELP (Home Equipment Loan Program) program.
This program is for the purchase of respiratory equipment to enable patients with lung problems to borrow and use the equipment to continue living at home. Part of the funds will also be used to maintain medical bio-medical machines donated by patients or Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).
Thank you PETRONITA, hopefully this contribution will continue in the future to provide facilities for patients in the home.

On 7 September 2018, an Expedition Release Ceremony to Mount Kinabalu Sabah In conjunction with the Golden Jubilee of the PPUM.
This expedition was attended by 30 participants comprising the staff of the UMMC and had successfully undergone their respective intensive training exercises.
It is hoped that all participants will take care of their health and safety a long the journey....

On September 6, 2019, participants of the INITIATION OF POST GRADUATE MEDICAL PHYSICS ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES course organized by the Malaysian Nuclear Agency and International Atomic Energy Agency in Kuala Lumpur were brought to the University Malaya Medical Center.
During the visit the visitors were briefed on the Faculty of Medicine and the University of Malaya Medical Center, they were then taken to visit the Medical Physics related facilities at the Bio-Medical Imaging Department and the Clinical Oncology Unit.
The participants were medical physicists from several countries from the Asia Pacific region including Afghanistan, Myammar, Iraq, Vietnam, Jordan, Kuwait, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines....

On September 4, 2018, Syarikat Zubedy (M) Sdn. Bhd. has visited and presented souvenirs to patients in the pediatric ward. The purpose of this project is to bring smiles to sick children and to understand the challenges that they are facing in life.
UMMC wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to Zubedy (M) Sdn. Bhd on the visit, the presentation of the souvenir.

On August 30, 2018, a Visit from Taiwan Chang Bing Show Chwan Memorial Hospital consisting of 23 People visited UMMC.
Taiwan Chang Bing Chwan Memorial Hospital was appointed by the Taiwan Ministry of Health and Welfare this year to build a platform for cooperation in medical and health academic exchange between Taiwan and Malaysia as well as related industries.
It is hoped that this collaborative effort could continue in the future....
