UMMC WORLD STROKE DAY 2018

Stroke is a condition where the lack of blood flow to the brain and causes brain death or lack of brain function. In Malaysia, statistics show that stroke is the third most common cause of death after heart disease and cancern. In order to raise awareness about stroke, UMMC held its first ever Stroke World Stroke Day celebration on October 24, 2018 organized by Neurology Division, Medical Department in collaboration with the Rehabilitation Medical Department, Department of Medical Imaging and Nursing Department.

The event was held to raise awareness especially on early treatment and help stroke patients build self-confidence so that they could live normally and independently. Talks by experts on stroke and exhibition were also held. The ceremony was officiated by YM. Prof. Dr. Tunku Kamarul Zaman bin Tunku Zainol Abidib, Director of UMMC. A total of 150 staff members and members of the public attended the event.
