Department of Business Development



The Department is a restructured and re-branded department formerly known as Facility and General Management Department. The re-branding came into force on the 17th of May 2013. The main objective of the establishment of the department is to enable UMMC to expand productively and innovatively as a statutory body which can generate own income and to be self-sustainable both in short and long term.

With such restructuring, the department is hoped to operate smoothly in a structured organisation and by having a clear roadmap towards multiplying the income of UMMC in accordance with activities that have been planned.

  1. To organise and administer operational activities of generating income and other commercial activities.
  2. To carry out and monitor all business activities:
    • Pharm UMMC
    • Lab test services for private sectors
    • Parking lot management
    • Property (including accomodation)
    • Space rental
    • ICT system and product retail
    • Organising conferences, workshops and courses
    • Other services
  3. To conduct and coordinate research, plus, to analyse new competitive commercial services and investment opportunities in order to generate more revenue for UMMC.
  4. To prepare and give advise on guidelines, turnaround time and incentive charge rate to department and staff and to the UMMC Revenue Generating Committee.
  5. To monitor revenue generating activities in order to be in line with the stipulated objective.
  6. To coordinate with various agencies and departments with relation to generating income. This includes giving advise, guidance and training to relevant parties.
  7. To do marketing and publicities for activities offered in order to attract prospective customer.
  8. To prepare and provide performance /financial reports timely to the Financial and Account Management Committee.
