Magnetic Resonance Imaging Research Centre

The University Malaya MRI Research Centre was established with a total of RM 12.2 million using High Impact Research Grant awarded by University of Malaya and the Ministry of Higher Education. Start operation on Mei 2016. The centre is designed and built to provide MRI images for both human and animal subjects. This imaging research facility is the first of its kind in Malaysia. The entire centre is not only equipped with the best technology, but also a well-trained team of professionals comprising doctors, radiologists, technicians, nurses, supporting staff.

Improving and promoting research in Univesity Malaya.It is also utilized for routine MRI scan of patients from the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) and teaching activities for students and staff. Apart from research in radiology, the centre play a key role in various field of research especially in Neurology, Cardiology, Angiography, Oncology, Orthopaedic, and Cognitive Neuroscience, all of which will benefit from the use of the new technology.

The MRI model MAGNETOM PRISMA supplied by Siemens Healthcare Malaysia is the latest and most advanced MRI system in its class. The system allows researchers to use the latest techniques including resting state fMRI, susceptibility weighted imaging (SWI), dynamic angiography and diffusion spectrum imaging (DSI).
