High congratulations to all of the top UMMC researchers in Global, Asia Pacific and Malaysia for the clinical trials under Clinical Investigation Centre (CIC). This success has been achieved through a great deal of effort, co-operation and dedication by the research team of the Principal Investigators and Co-Investigators as well as Study Coordinators.

These exciting achievements are expected to continue to drive CIC and UMMC as a leading clinical research center and make UMMC as a preferred center for clinical research in Malaysia, Asia Pacific as well as globally.

The achievements in 2019 (January until July) are as follows:

Today, Together Against Cancer Association Malaysia (TAC) has donated 79 sofa beds worth nearly RM50,000. Also present were Y.M Professor Dr Tunku Kamarul of Tunku Zainol Abidin, Director of UMMC and Mr. Wong Kuan Sing, TAC Chairman. This contribution is great value in the efforts of UMMC to provide comprehensive services also enhancing patient comfort while receiving treatment at UMMC.

Pada 28.8.2019, PPUM telah menerima pelawat dari St Josephs Home Singapore. Lawatan dari St Josephs Home Singapore telah diketuai oleh May Wong, Ketua, Jabatan Perkhidmatan Kesihatan Sekutu dan turut diringi oleh lima orang juruterapi dan pelatih mereka. Objektif lawatan adalah lawatan sambil belajar serta perkongsian maklumat berkaitan rawatan hidroterapi di PPUM. Pelawat turut melawat Kolam Hidroterapi, Bahagian Fisioterapi, Jabatan Perubatan Pemulihan. Diharap lawatan seperti ini dapat memberi manafaat yang besar kepada kedua-dua pihak.

Audit Dalaman PPUM Bil. 2/2019 telah diadakan selama 3 hari mulai 21 Ogos 2019 sehingga 23 Ogos 2019. Sepanjang 3 hari sesi audit, pasukan Auditor Dalaman PPUM yang dilantik iaitu seramai 44 auditor telah mengaudit 50 lokasi Jabatan/Unit di PPUM bagi memastikan kepatuhan kepada Standard SIRIM MS-ISO 9001:2015.

Di akhir Program Audit, pasukan auditor telah menyiapkan laporan dan penemuan audit. Pn. Ravi Chanthriga a/p Eturajulu, selaku Ketua Auditor juga telah membuat pembentangan dan melaporkan mengenai penemuan-penemuan para auditor berkenaan pada majlis Penutup Sesi Audit. Segala cadangan, teguran dan penemuan hendaklah diambil positif oleh pihak Jabatan/Unit dan mereka perlu membuat penambahbaikan sebaik mungkin. Hasil audit pada siri 2/2019 sebanyak 154 Nota Penambahbaikan dan 32 Ketidakpatuhan telah dilaporkan.

Today UMMC has received a visit from Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL). The purpose of this visit was for UMMC to share information on the referral system in the Medical Department used by UMMC. The visit was led by Dr Heric Corray, Director of Hospital Kuala Lumpur. Yang Mulia Prof. Dr. Tunku Kamarul Zaman bin Tunku Zainol Abidin, Director of UMMC with the Top Management Team of UMMC also present to welcome our guest. We hope that this kind of cooperation and partnership can continue in the future.

Pada pagi ini telah berlangsungnya "Fitness Marathon" sempena Healthy Lifestyle Awareness Week 2019 di Dewan Tunku Canselor, Universiti Malaya. Bertemakan ''Survivor, Let'' s Keep Fit & Healthy for Life'' dan ini adalah bertepatan dengan sasaran utama peserta yang terdiri daripada bekas-bekas pesakit kanser. Program ini adalah di bawah bimbingan Prof. Madya Dr. Nahar Azmi Mohamed, Ketua Jabatan Perubatan Sukan dan turut terlibat bersama dalam program ini adalah Jabatan Onkologi Klinikal dan Jabatan Dietatik. Turut hadir Yang Mulia Prof. Dr. Tunku Kamarul Zaman Tunku Zainol Abidin, Pegarah PPUM. Semoga progam seperti ini akan dapat diteruskan lagi di masa akan datang.

“Clean Care For All, It’s In Your Hand” is the theme of the UMMC Hand Hygiene Campaign 2019. The opening ceremony was held on August 8, 2019 in Conference Room 3, 13th Floor of the South Tower and officiated by Y.M Prof. Dr. Tunku Kamarul Bin Tunku Zainol Abidin, Director of UMMC. The purpose of this campaign is to promote awareness of the importance hand washing among UMMC staff.

On August 9, 2019, the World Breastfeeding Week Launching was held at UMMC Sekapur Sirih Hall. The ceremony was officiated by the Deputy Director of Clinical (Surgical) University Malaya Medical Center, Professor Madya Dr. Azura Binti Mansor. UMMC staff should be proud that we are part of a world that protects, promotes and support breast feeding. Hopefully this event will increase knowledge and benefit us in the future.

On August 8, PETRONITA has donated 200 copies of the special Quran print for the use of public in Surau Ad-Deeniah and other Surau in UMMC. The donation was presented by Pn. Norizan Ghazali, Chairman of PETRONITA Welfare Committee-Wife Representative and Pn. Jazlinawati Osman, Head of Welfare Services PETRONITA-Staff Representative. On behalf of UMMC Management, contributions have been received by Pn. Che Zuraini Sulaiman, Deputy Director (Professional), UMMC. Thank you PETRONITA for this charitable donation and charity.

Pada 12 Ogos 2019, sempena Hari Raya Aidil Adha, pihak Pengurusan PPUM telah mengadakan kunjungan prihatin sambil meraikan staf yang tidak dapat bercuti serta bertugas dan tidak dapat pulang ke kampung halaman mereka. Pihak Pengurusan PPUM juga telah mengedarkan makanan untuk dinikmati oleh mereka.

Alumni Checkup Ceremony was held on August 5, 2019 on the 13th Floor, South Tower. The RM 100,000.00 donation will be for the establishment of a Child Development Center at UMMC where UMMC will be the main referral center for Autism child patients and their developmental delays. Mock check was presented by Dr. G.R Letchuman MBBS Alumni Representative, University of Malaya 81/86 to Y.M Prof. Dr. Tunku Kamarul bin Tunku Zainal Abidin. Hopefully this kind of pure effort will continue in the future.

On last Saturday 27th July 2019, Pharmacy Department has organized UMMC Living Library 2019 program at Conference Room 3, 13th floor, Menara Selatan. The aim of this program is to improve the understanding and empathy among UMMC staff, especially those from clinical support and non-clinical departments. Most ‘books’ in the living library are patients and carers, whilst the ‘readers’ are staff. Among the titles that are available this year are: 28 hari di NICU, My son and his brain tumor, DMD terbang tanpa sayap and Who am I? I’m Ironman - journey of orthopedic patient.

Majlis Penyampaian Cek oleh MyStemi Foundation kepada Tabung PPUMCare telah diadakan pada 1 Ogos 2019. Sumbangan ini adalah sebanyak RM 60,000.00 bagi membantu perawatan pesakit jantung di PPUM. YBhg Datuk Dr. Rosli bin Mohd Ali, Pengerusi MyStemi Foundation telah menyampaikan sumbangan kepada YM Prof. Dr. Tunku Kamarul Zaman bin Tunku Zainal Abidin, Pengarah PPUM. Diharap sumbangan ini dapat membantu menyediakan perkhidmatan rawatan serangan jantung yang mampu milik untuk semua golongan.
