Train The Trainers in Hand Hygiene

HAND HYGIENE TRAIN THE TRAINERS PROGRAM 2019

Hospital acquired infection and multi- drug resistant organism (MDRO) is a serious threat to public health. Globally, the rates of MDRO are on the rise and the impact is devastating. MDRO increases mortality, length of hospital stay and cost to both patient and hospital. Hand hygiene is the single most effective method in reducing of transmission of MDROs.

The Infection Control Department of University Malaya Medical Centre, in collaboration with Saraya, will be co-sponsoring a program called "Train The Trainers in Hand Hygiene” from 29th - 31st January 2019. This program is organized and conducted by the World Health Organization and Geneva University Hospitals, Switzerland. We will be graced with the presence of Professor Dr. Didier Pittet and his team from Switzerland.

  2. Revisit this key tenet of infection control
  3. Generate awareness among the public that UMMC pledges its support together with the rest of the national and global community in support of hand hygiene.

The 3-day program consists of talks and workshops for its participants, as well as an official pledge ceremony on the 2nd day. This program will be endorsed by the Ministry of Health, Malaysia and we are anticipating 80 participants from all over Malaysia. Programme details as follows:
