TELEMATCH
The Pharmacy Society’s Telematch, organized by the second year students especially for the first years is a much anticipated annual affair. This year, it was held on the 21st of July 2007 at the University’s field.Attendance was very much satisfactory with many seniors joining in as well.
One of the main objectives of this event is to provide a conducive environment for pharmacy students to interact and bond. Besides instilling the importance of teamwork and togetherness, it promotes unity among the students regardless of race, creed and background. This is especially important in a professional healthcare line such as pharmacy.
The first years were divided beforehand into groups with each group having to prepare certain items such as chairs, pails, a gigantic coin and a long stick. They were also required to create cheers that would best represent themselves as a group. Upon the arrival of the students at 8 a.m., the event started with a warm-up session followed by 2 sets of aerobics conducted by Phua Guek Kee, aided by the second years. Shortly after that, the fun and games started.
There were many stations scattered throughout the field and the groups were required to pass through each. Exciting games were played at every station and they include passing bands, walking on chairs and lots more. The stations were manned by the second years. After the station games, some light refreshments were served and several interaction activities were conducted between the juniors and the seniors.
The event ended at about 12.30 p.m. with a prize giving ceremony for the best groups. All in all, the event was a success thanks in no small part to all who had directly or indirectly helped in organizing this event. The support received from both the students and the management staff is very much appreciated, without which this event would definitely not be possible.
Good morning! First year students.
