Research Activities

The Department of Social and Preventive Medicine is involved in teaching and research. The present focus of research of the department are

Cardiovascular
Infectious diseases
Workers health

Beside conducting individual research, the staff are also responsible for supervision of the postgraduate dan undergraduates candidates research projects.

Research Fundings

Research fundings are available from many venue, the fundings available from the Faculty of Medicine are Fundamental Vote (Vote F), China Medical Board Research Fund, Ranjeet Bhagwan Singh Research Grant CMB Research Fund and Fundamental Research Project Fund. The information of the fund are available from the UMMC website and the University of Malaya, Instituite of Research Management and Consultancy (IPPP)

Resources

The Department conduct Medical Statistics Clinics as part of the service provided for researchers and students from the Faculty of Medicine and University Malaya Medical Centre.
As a guide for undergraduates and postgraduates students with the department, the department requires all works done for the departments to use the Vancouver referencing system.

European Union Asia-link Project

The Department of Social and Preventive Medicine is one of the partner in the European Union Asia-link project which will be on the Asia-Europe Clinical Epidemiology and Evidence Based Medicine Programme. The other partners are

University of Oxford, United Kingdom; and
University of Indonesia

Publication

The staff of the department also publish papers in peer review journals and books
