Master of Medical Science in Public Health

The programme was introduced in 1997 for non-medically qualified person with adequate experience in public health.

Type of Programme

The MMedSc(Public Health) programme is a coursework programme in which the research component comprises of less that 30% of the whole programme of study.

After completion of the relevant programme of study specified in this schedule, a candidate shall be eligible for the award of the following degrees;

  1. Masters of Medical Science in Public Health, and
  2. Masters of Medical Science in Public Health in a speciality of the candidate choice, as the case may be.

Entry Requirements

  1. The degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery of the University; or
  2. The degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery of the University; or
  3. A Bachelor's degree of the University with at least a second class honours in a relavant discipline; or
  4. An equivalent qualification approved by the Senate; and
  5. At least one year of relevant work experience

Duration of Study

Masters of Medical Science in Public Health

The minimum duration of study shall be one year and the maximum duration of study shall be two years

Master of Medical Science in Public Health in a Speciality

The minimum duration of study shall be two years and the maximum duration of study shall be four years

Assessment

Write-up of two term paper reports on approved subjects are also required. Successfull completion of the continous assessments and the written final examination. [Details]
