Providing health care services involving patients of all categories and ages, whether acute or chronic disease.

  1. KLINIK AM (GROUND FLOOR)
    • Offering outpatient services to patients without an appointment, referred by a specialist clinic or medical practitioner from public or private health center and patient follow-up by appointment.
    • Consultation for acute health problems (e.g.: fever, diarrhea, abdominal pain, etc.)
    • Consultation for problems of chronic diseases (e.g.: diabetes, hypertension, asthma)
    • There are 15 consultation rooms and two treatment rooms.
    • Guide for consultation and treatment:
      • New patients - need to provide an identity card (nationals) or passport (foreigners).
      • Patients who already have the registered number - need to provide the appointment card / book.
      • Patients are advised to bring their pension card or warranty card (guarantee letter) from employers to facilitate registration and payment.
  2. KLINIK KELUARGA (LEVEL 1)
    • Provides continuous healthcare to the patients and family. Patients of Klinik Am that fulfil the listed criteria will be extended to this clinic.
    • There are 16 consultation rooms and 2 treatment rooms.
    • Guide for treatment:
      1. Patients who already have the registration number (registered number) - need to provide their appointment card/ book.
      2. For existing Klinik Keluarga patients with acute problems, should come for consultation only in the morning (8am to 12pm).
  3. IMMUNISATION CLINIC (KIDDS)
    •  Offers immunisation and growth and development assessment for infant and children and immunisation for adults.
    • Guide for treatment:
      1. New patients - need to provide MyKid or birth certificate
      2. Registered patients - need to bring an appointment card / child health record book.  
  4. KLINIK DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment Short-course)
    • The patient is a referral from doctors from RUKA Clinic, Specialist Clinic or ward.
    • Provides treatment for tuberculosis patients and perform the Mantoux test.
  5. DIABETES EDUCATION CLINIC
    • Offers counseling services to patients with diabetes and teach insulin injection technique to the diabetic patients, nursing students and medical students.
    • The patient is a referral from doctors from RUKA clinic or Specialist Clinic.
  6. ECG SERVICES
    • Provides ECG test services to patients in the RUKA clinic.
  7. DOMICILIARY HOME CARE SERVICE
    • Offers services to patients:
      1. Referred from RUKA clinic, Specialist Clinic or wards in University Malaya Medical Centre.
      2. House is within 10km radius from the University Malaya Medical Centre.
      3. With a caregiver at home
    • Treatment services provided include:
      1. Health education for patients and family members.
      2. Basic health care.
      3. Emotional support
      4. Wound inspection and wound care advice
      5. Changing nasogastric tube
      6. Physiotherapy advice
    • Medical officers (Family Medicine graduate students) and medical students are involved with these services as one of the learning process.

PROCEDURE FOR CONSULTATION AND RECEIVING TREATMENT IN RUKA CLINIC

  1. SCREENING/ TRIAGE
    1. Please follow the instructions written on the queue management system (QMS) machine, which are located on the ground floor and near the counter 1, RUKA Clinic. Please select and press the appropriate button to get the pre-queue number:
      1. Button A: Patients who are younger than 60 years old
      2. Button B: Patients with appointments
      3. Button C: Elderly (age 60 or older), children (age 12 and below) and for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)
      4. Button D: Patients making next appointment date
    2. Please follow the instructions given and the pre-queue number will be called by staff at counter 1, 2, 3 or 4 for triaging procedure:
      1. Counter 1 & 2 are for seniors / children and the disabled.
      2. Counter 3 & 4 for patients aged 60 years and under.
    3. Triaging will be done by the doctor on duty or staff nurse.
    4. Doctor on duty and staff nurse will interview patients to obtain information about the problems faced by patients for triaging purposes.
    5. Patients who have been referred from a public health clinic or a private clinic will be directed to the Specialist Clinic or to be seen first by doctors in RUKA clinic.
    6. Patients’ vital signs will be taken and physical examinations will be performed when deemed necessary.
  2. REGISTRATION
    1. For the new patients (without patient registration number) at the University Malaya Medical Centre; patients are given a token number and requested to wait for the token number to be called at the counter 6 , 7 or 8 for registration and payment procedures if necessary.
    2. For patients who already have a registered patient number at the University Malaya Medical Center, patients are requested to wait for their name to be called at counter 5 for the payment process (if necessary).
      1. Token number to see a doctor in the consultation room number will be given after payment procedure (if necessary) is done.
    3.  For patients who have a pension card or a guarantee letter from employer; RUKA clinic services are free.
  3. CONSULTATION, FOLLOW UP AND MEDICATION DISPENSARY
    1. The patients’ token number called by the doctors in the consultation room will not follow the order because the patients are allocated according to the doctor’s consultation room.
    2. For the afternoon clinic session, patients with the appointment, the token number for the doctor’s consultation will be given according to the time in the appointment card/ book.
    3. for example, if the appointment has been set at 4 pm, the token numbers will only be called at 4pm even if the registration is done at 2pm.
    4. Payment for investigative procedures shall be made at the counter 10 on the ground floor or Klinik Keluarga registration counter at Level 1.
    5.  If the patient requires admission to the ward, the patient will be sent by the clinic staff to the ward concerned for the admission.
    6. Unstable patients will be transferred to the emergency department by clinic staff if necessary.
    7. If further follow-up is required, the patient should press the button D (for future appointment) at Queue Management System (QMS) machine provided near Counter 1 on the ground floor.
    8. The queue number of patients will be called by the staff at Counter 9 or 10 in which the date of an upcoming appointment will be given.
    9. The token number for medications will be given by the doctor via e-prescribing. The patient will require to wait at the pharmacy counters for the token number to be called to get the medications.
